Brief Bio:
The middle child of a doctor and an English teacher, Christian wasn't expected to be the sporting type. He followed his sister who was a skater to lessons and, looking sad, cold, and miserable, was offered to go out on the ice by one of the other coaches and he was hooked at the tender age of four. At the age of thirteen he went to Edinburgh for a pairs try-out and got stuck with chatty Alice Ordway; despite their personality conflicts, their skating meshed nicely and that was that. They were not very succcessful their first seasons as seniors, finishing in the middle of the pack at large competitions, and it took a move to the United States to help them realize any real potential that lay beyond British national titles. They took off the 2004-05 season so Christian could rest up an ankle injury and Alice could finally finish her university degree at the University of Edinburgh, then they came back with Torino 2006 as an incentive.

Unlike his wife, Christian is generally a serious-minded, quiet person who only lets a select few people have the pleasure of a conversation that isn't one-sided. He's the type who prefers reading a book to socializing with most people. He has a degree in English Literature from the University of St Andrews which he managed to pull off by not taking a gap year and having no life other than skating and school. He has an older sister, Moira, who is a music teacher and a younger brother, Samuel, who's seeing British figure skater Emma Churchill which amuses Christian to no end. Now that the competitive part of his life is over he's looking forward to coaching and (mostly) starting a family.
