Brief Bio:
Julia was born in the rural town of Dwyran, but after the age of six was raised in the city of Bangor in Wales. Due to living in Dwyran, Welsh was her first language and she still speaks it often to her parents and family members who understand the language. She started skating young, at the age of three, when she was dragged along by her parents when they would visit family in Cardiff. Luckily a rink was built in nearby Bangor and she begged her parents to let her take lessons. They relented and she enjoyed herself, never seriously thinking about competing until she began seriously testing for the various levels in the UK skating program. The only competitions she was ever in were small, local competitions; the biggest thing she'd ever been in was the 2004 British Junior Championships where she placed first but expressed no interest in going to the Junior Worlds so she was replaced by the silver medalist. At sixteen she decided to test for the senior level, realizing that she really wanted to compete because she thought she was getting good enough. Her mother Mairi took Julia to Oceanside over the summer of 2005, and they decided to settle there in the early fall and get into a training regimen at the renowned arena.

Julia has a very balanced temperament. She is very responsible for her age and seems a little too mature for sixteen in some ways. She's a little overwhelmed about being in a new country, a new city, etcetera, but looks at everything from a positive point-of-view. She's homeschooled now, having been pulled out of the local secondary school in Dwyran when she moved with her mother to the USA. Her father Roderick still lives in Wales and intends on paying occasional visits to his wife and daughter.
