Lux was born to a Greco-Canadian mother and a French-Canadian father. She grew up relatively happy, but she was lonely. Most people think she's cold or shallow, but she’s actually quite the opposite. Lux craves emotional security, and to a slightly lesser extent, material stability as well. She is frightened by situations that seem in any way precarious. She is also turned off by men who are interested in her only for her looks. Lux knows she is very attractive, but she doesn’t understand how she could be more or less attractive than any other pretty girl.

Lux was a good student, earning a partial scholarship to University of Toronto to study Political Science, where she met and dated a hockey player and fellow figure skater named Scott Lansing. Secretly, however, she harbored an intense interest in Scott's best friend, Kurt Golding, whom she eventually snagged as his figure skating career began to take off.

Their relationship ended in disaster when Lux left Kurt - who was in love with her - for her current husband and partner. She is in love with her husband - who loves her too, though he isn't very passionate - though sometimes regrets having left Kurt. She also regrets losing Scott, whom she adored, but felt was too preoccupied with his childhood friend Maria Rodriguez to love Lux in the ways she needed.
